Overview
Employment Status: Temporary, part-time, “non-exempt”, non-benefited position through June 30th, 2021 (Appointment may be renewed annually. With the possibility of converting to full-time based upon availability of funding, availability of work and satisfactory job performance).

Salary: $15.00/hour, 19 hours per week

Work Schedule: Typically, Monday thru Friday 8:00-12:30 or 12:30-5:00 p.m.; some evenings and weekends may be required. Incumbent must be able to participate in remote or on-campus work depending on the directives from the CSUSB campus.

Summary: Graphic Designer will develop creative designs tailored to various target audiences, for print, museum exhibitions, and digital applications (promotional, marketing, advertising, animation, etc.) for both internal and external University marketing efforts building the RAFFMA brand.

First Review Deadline: This position will remain open until filled. Applications will be reviewed beginning December 16, 2020.

Typical Activities
The incumbent will:

  • develop a variety of visual assets and informative communication to meet the diverse work by a University Art Museum. This includes the various events, programs, and exhibitions hosted by RAFFMA.
  • manage multiple projects to support all areas of the museum (Exhibitions, Tours, Education, Engagement, and Membership).
  • support and work collaboratively with all RAFFMA staff and students.
  • work with the university and museum to build both shared and unique identities.
  • provide requested imagery as needed for all print/digital needs. All final materials to be reviewed and approved by Strategic Communication before being used.
  • assist the Public Affairs II to maintain and monitor museum social media platforms.
  • co-create and plan content for each platform and for the intended audience.
  • track and monitor the growth and statistics for each social media account.
  • contribute to the RAFFMA Marketing plan and support the Public Affairs II with desired goals and outreach.


Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:

  • The equivalent of one year of experience in the field.
  • Intermediate-advanced experience with Adobe graphic design applications.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design is preferred.
  • Some experience in the marketing and cultural field is preferred.
  • Ability to assist with issues pertaining to the creation of grant requests for a graphic design and advertising department.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) strongly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • College coursework in related field with demonstrable skills.
  • Ability to translate client needs and requirements into appropriate visual solutions for a variety of educational applications.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with a diverse group of people, exercise sound judgment, determine priorities, complete assigned projects in a timely manner, and work well under tight deadlines,
  • A clear understanding of file preparation for print and web-based media.
  • Understanding design parameters as they apply to educational and ADA compliant design standards.
