We invite applications for an Assistant Athletic Trainer. This position provides medical coverage as assigned by the coordinator of athletic training services for all athletic teams with their practices, games and special events. Provides care to student-athletes through competent evaluations, physician referrals, treatment, rehabilitation and emergency care when necessary. Responsible for communication with coaches on practice times and schedules. This position requires flexibility to travel and work weekends and evenings when necessary. This is a full-time 10 month position.

Duties include but are not limited to the following:
  • Provide medical coverage as assigned by the coordinator of athletic training services for all athletic teams with their practices, games and special events.
  • Provide care to student-athletes through competent evaluations, physician referrals, treatment, manual therapy, rehabilitation and emergency care when necessary.
  • Maintain an active inventory record of training room supplies to be completed at the beginning of each year and at the completion of each sport season.
  • Recruit students to work in training room and coordinate training, including in-service, clinical and special class training programs.
  • Coordinate the schedule of the student workers for coverage of training room, practices, games and special events.
  • Responsible for communication with coaches on practice times and schedules.
  • As a part of COVID-19 auxiliary assignments, the Assistant Athletic Trainer will support contact tracing for the College.
  • Regular attendance is an essential function to perform the duties of this position.


Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • NATABOC certification and ability to gain Tennessee licensure required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years' of work experience in a college or university setting required.
  • Previous experience with manual therapy preferred. Must exhibit professionalism and diplomacy in working effectively with diverse constituencies.
  • Must communicate effectively with all types of people, and establish and maintain a strong working relationship with students, parents, alumni, faculty, staff and other college personnel.
  • Must have the ability to work responsibly with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office required.
  • This position requires a valid driver's license, good driving record, and must be insurable by the College's insurance carrier.
  • Evening and weekend hours in all types of weather, with travel is necessary.
