Purpose of Position

The Assistant Director for Compliance in the Office of Student Financial Assistance is responsible for ensuring that the Office of Student Financial Assistance and Northern Kentucky University is in compliance with all federal, state and institutional regulations. A major responsibility of this position is to work collaboratively with auditors (internal and external), review, research and write office policies and procedures, provide training opportunities for staff, provide leadership/oversight to daily reconciliation of disbursements, manage the return of Title IV process and provide assistance with student service. This position will also assist the Associate Director in coordinating all automated processes.

Primary Responsibilities

The following are primary responsibilities:

1. Ensure institutional compliance with federal, state and institutional regulations.
2. Research and write office and university policies and procedures.
3. Retrieve, update, process and reconcile state and federal aid rosters ( EFT ).
4. Provide reports and write responses to US Department of Education.
5. Coordinate all staff and departmental trainings.
6. Provide supervision to assigned staff members.
7. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree and four years of professional experience in financial aid or related field is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

Applicants must possess high levels of organizational, customer service skills, and seamless ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Excellent verbal, telephone communication and interpersonal skills are necessary. Must have exceptional attention to detail and ability to multi-task successfully within multiple deadlines. Demonstrated ability to work independently, anticipate needs, and work as part of a team. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, including Access, Excel, and Word.
