The University of Florida is inviting applicants for three criticalist faculty positions in Emergency and Critical Care to join our 14 existing faculty members (7 DACVECCs and 7 full time ER DVMs). This is a fast-growing clinical service encompassing intensive care, emergency services and extracorporeal therapy/nephrology at our VECCS Level 1 and AAHA certified 100,000 square foot referral center in Gainesville, Florida as well as our state-of-the-art emergency practice in Ocala, Florida. Caseload at the University of Florida Veterinary Hospital is the third largest in the country and provides excellent support for the teaching and clinical research mission of the college. We love what we do and would be excited to share our experiences with you!

A successful applicant would be involved in primary patient care, as well as instruction and supervision of veterinary students, interns and residents occurring at our main teaching hospital and satellite emergency hospital. Applicants will be expected to develop a program of scholarly activity; the balance between clinical, teaching and research assignment will depend on the qualifications of the applicant and is negotiable. Opportunities at the University of Florida for clinical trials, scholarship of education and translational research related to emergency and critical care are unparalleled and applicants will be encouraged to explore collaborations within the College of Veterinary Medicine and with established investigative teams in Critical Care Medicine at the Shands Hospital.

Gainesville and Ocala are located in north central Florida; there are many opportunities for outdoor recreation at the nearby beaches, gulf coast fishing towns, and crystal-clear natural springs.

Candidates must have a DVM (or equivalent) degree and must have completed an approved residency in Emergency and Critical Care. Rank and salary will be based upon the successful candidate’s professional qualifications and experience.

All applicants must apply online through Careers at UF in order to be considered for the position. If you would like to discuss informally please contact the ECC service chiefs, Travis Lanaux (lanaux@ufl.edu, 352 278-4776) and Ashley Allen-Durrance (aeallen@ufl.edu, 352 228-9620), or the Department Chair, Dr. Chris Adin (adinc@ufl.edu, 352-294-4411). For formal applications, a curriculum vitae, letter of application, and names of three individuals willing to write letters in support of the applicant for job number 67543 should be submitted online. Review of applications will begin immediately and must be submitted by the posting close date.

Final candidate will be required to provide official transcript to the hiring department upon hire. A transcript will not be considered “official” if a designation of “Issued to Student” is visible. Degrees earned from an education institution outside of the United States are required to be evaluated by a professional credentialing service provider approved by National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES), which can be found at http://www.naces.org/.
