Applications are invited for appointment as Tenure-Track Clinical Associate Professor/Clinical Assistant Professor (2 posts) in Restorative Dental Sciences of the Faculty of Dentistry (Ref.: 502793), to commence as soon as possible on a four-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal upon mutual agreement and with consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second four-year fixed-term contract.

The Faculty of Dentistry is the only dental school in Hong Kong and is the only one in Greater China that uses English as the medium of instruction. The high quality of the Faculty’s undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, clinical services and research excellence attained global recognition, as evidenced by the Faculty’s World Number Ranking among the top 1% by the QS World University Ranking by Subject in the past six years. The Faculty’s strategic research themes include Clinical Artificial Intelligence, Craniofacial Regeneration, Microbiome Innovation, Oral Cancer, and Population Oral Health. The Faculty also plays an important role in public and professional education through its knowledge exchange activities as well as in dental and oral health research, and promotions in international, regional and local communities.

The Faculty is seeking two academic clinicians with a strong interest in clinical dental practice, teaching and learning and a passion for research. Applicants should have a demonstrated level of expertise in undertaking a leading role in the development of teaching and learning in Restorative Dental Sciences.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate a high level of expertise in contemporary clinical practice and philosophies related to advanced clinical restorative dentistry such as aesthetic dentistry, management of the broken-down/worn dentition, or minimal intervention dentistry. Those with a demonstrated research track record in Cariology, Comprehensive Dental Care and/or Restorative Dentistry are highly desirable. Applicants should have skills centered on clinical management and teaching within the Restorative Dentistry. The appointee would be expected to play a major role in clinical learning of BDS students and depending on the level of experience and appointment, the appointee may take the role of coordinating Comprehensive Dental Care/General Dental Practice learning in the senior years of the BDS programme.

For appointment as Clinical Associate Professor, applicants should possess a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Dentistry, clinical specialist or equivalent status pertaining to the field of Restorative Dental Sciences, and a Ph.D. degree or equivalent. They should also have (i) proven evidence for quality research, publications in high quality international journals, and local and regional recognition for scholarship and professional expertise; (ii) demonstrated ability in undergraduate and postgraduate education, clinical practice and research; (iii) active participation in Faculty and University affairs; and (iv) solid experience in knowledge exchange (KE) activities and leadership in professional education programmes or community engagement.

For appointment as Clinical Assistant Professor, applicants should possess a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Dentistry, and a Master of Dental Surgery degree or equivalent. They should also have (i) ability in undergraduate and postgraduate clinical teaching and clinical practice; (ii) potential for and interest in research; (iii) ability and willingness to participate in Faculty affairs; and (iv) experience in KE activities.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointments will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will also be provided as applicable.
