Applications are invited for appointment as Post-doctoral Fellow in Stem Cell Biology (several posts) in the School of Biomedical Sciences (Ref.: 502788), to commence as soon as possible for one to three year(s), with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.

The selected candidates will work in a company incorporated by the University of Hong Kong that was established to administer and support the University’s innovation endeavors.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Sciences, Biological Sciences, or a related discipline, with a strong research publication record. Research experiences in at least one of the areas including stem cells, regenerative medicine, cancer, heart disease, liver disease, animal models, immunology, embryology, genomics, genome-editing, drug screen are desirable. They should have a good command of written and spoken English, strong communication skills, and a demonstrated track record of publishing academic research papers. Applicants should also be self-motivated, innovative, and able to work well in an interdisciplinary team. The appointees are expected to contribute to 3 translational research programmes in a newly developed translational stem cell biology research centre.

Prorgramme 1:

• New technology relevant to stem cells with totipotency features
• Molecular determinants in direct differentiation of expanded potential stem cells (ESPCs) to functional cells
• Genome editing of EPSCs and new genome editing techniques and applications in ES cells
• Protein engineering and direct molecular evolution

Prorgramme 2:

• Application of stem cell-derived cells for disease modeling/drug screening
• Cell products
• EPSCs as platform for the generation of genome-edited animals

Prorgramme 3:

• Stem cells for studying immunological disorders
• Drug candidates for immunological disorders

Appointees are expected to conduct research projects in a multidisciplinary team of clinicians and scientists. Working off-campus may be required.

A competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered.
