Job Description:

The Department of Math and Computer Science invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in Computer Science (#F0070) to begin August 2021. All areas of specialization will be considered.

Professional responsibilities include teaching 12 credit hours per semester of undergraduate courses, including introductory programming and upper-level computer science courses as well as courses in Longwood's Civitae Core Curriculum.

In addition to the primary responsibility of teaching, faculty are also expected to advise students effectively, to make service contributions, and to engage in scholarship and professional activity, including undergraduate research.

The Department, housed in the Cook-Cole College of Arts and Sciences, offers Bachelor's degrees in Computer Science and Mathematics, with an option for a secondary education endorsement in the latter. Opportunities exist for collaboration with faculty in the Information Systems and Cyber Security program offered through Longwood's College of Business and Economics. The department supports a dedicated academic computing laboratory of Linux workstations for teaching and research. Requirements:

Terminal degree required. Ph.D. in Computer Science (or equivalent) preferred; Ph.D. in Mathematics or related field with Master's Degree in Computer Science considered. ABD in Computer Science with completion date by August 2021 also considered. Successful college teaching experience preferred. A demonstrated ability and commitment to working with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff, and constituents in support of the university mission is preferred.

This is a full-time, tenure-track, instructional faculty position. Salary will be commensurate with credentials and experience. Commonwealth of Virginia benefits accompany this position. A successful criminal background investigation is required.
