Job Description:  We invite applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the Associate or Assistant Professor level.  The department of Physical Therapy Education at Elon University which includes 13 full-time highly qualified, dynamic faculty is recruiting an individual with clinical and teaching experience in musculoskeletal physical therapy (PT).  Teaching responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, Biomechanics and Management of Musculoskeletal Dysfunction, Clinical Reasoning & Therapeutic Exercise, and Research Design. The successful candidate will also have a clinically-oriented, ongoing research agenda related to musculoskeletal PT, rehabilitation/movement science, or biomechanics.  Additional responsibilities include academic advising, student mentoring, scholarship, and department and university service.  The successful candidate will have effective interpersonal and communication skills, and a commitment to graduate education and professional growth.  Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and level of experience.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A record of teaching and scholarship
  • Eligibility for licensure as a physical therapist in North Carolina
  • A minimum of 3 years of clinical practice
  • Active membership in a professional organization

Preferred candidates will also have:

  • Experience as mid-career orthopedic or sports specialist
  • An academic terminal degree (e.g PhD, DSc, EdD)
  • Residency or fellowship training or ABPTS certification
  • Active leadership in a professional organization

Start Date: The start date for this position is negotiable, with preference for starting before June 1, 2021.

About the Department: The LEED-certified Gerald L. Francis Center houses the School of Health Sciences.  The Department of Physical Therapy Education occupies 32,000 square feet with state-of-the-art equipment for teaching and research, including: MSK ultrasound, DEXA scanner, Strength and Balance measuring systems, a 3D motion capture system with 12 cameras and 16-channel wireless EMG system, plus two force plates, Woodway Pro-Treadmill, instrumented walkways, and a bodyweight-support rehabilitation system.  The DPTE and the School of Health Sciences enjoy a strong collaborative partnership with Cone Health-Alamance Regional Medical Center.  Please visit our website at https://www.elon.edu/u/academics/health-sciences/dpt/ for additional information.
