Professional Services Specialist IV, Administrative Services - Payroll Office
Under the supervision of the Payroll Director, the Professional Services Specialist is responsible for performing professional work using established University policies, procedures, precedents and guidelines to support the Payroll Office and in the hiring/onboarding of the University’s employees through the Workday system; provides payroll application support by responding to user questions and in resolving problems and production support for Workday and other processes; and does related work as required. This position requires a flexible schedule as needed.
This is not a remote position and requires a physical presence on campus as determined by the Supervisor. It requires working on campus during the COVID-19 pandemic and interacting directly with students following all procedures and protocols set forth in the University’s Restart Plan and any procedures/protocols created through additional correspondence. The employee must have the ability to wear a face covering for the duration of the workday during the COVID pandemic or as determined by university protocol.
Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor’s degree is required. Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute experience on a year-for-year basis. Applicants who possess an Associate’s degree may substitute two (2) years of position-related experience for the remaining two (2) years of education. One (1) year of professional experience in different aspects of administration and business practices, including design and implementation of policy and procedures, vendor service contracts and improving and updating management practices is required. At least one year of Payroll and/or Human Resources experience and experience using the Workday system is preferred. Candidate must have proficiency in all Microsoft Office products including, but not limited to: Access, Excel, Word and Outlook and have the ability to learn to utilize various types of software, programs and electronic information systems used by the Office including, but not limited to: Adobe and Ellucian Colleague. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential.
The selected candidate will be required to pass a four (4) month Working Test Period to become eligible for a regular appointment.
