Inventory & Distribution Representative

General Summary/Purpose

The primary purpose of this position is to handle all delivery aspects of customer service for the clients of the CORE store. This entails making sure all researchers receive items in a timely fashion, and handling any questions or concerns they may have at that time. This person would be the main source of contact with customers, and thus, an important part of our customer service team.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Respond to customer questions and concerns about their product delivery (i.e. where the item is, when will a delivery be made, why an item was not delivered, how should a replacement be acquired).
  • Ensure the maintenance of good working relationships with JHU researchers at the Homewood and Bayview campuses.
  • Deliver the CORE inventory products to the individual research labs in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate copies of receivings, purchase orders, and Homewood forms to assure a proper tracking system for vendor billing.
  • Maintain the stability and integrity of the inventory items at all times.
  • Assist in the quarterly inventory.
  • Demonstrate good communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrate the ability to deal patiently with problems and complaints.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma

Preferred Qualifications

  • Some college experience is preferred.
  • Customer service background is preferred.

Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Technical Qualifications or Specialized Certifications:

  • HIPAA, DOT/IATA Dangerous Goods Shipping,
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Physical requirements for the job:

Must be able to walk and push a cart. Some lifting of up to 20lbs will be required.

Must be able to sit for long periods of time.

During the Influenza ("the flu") season, as a condition of employment, The Johns Hopkins Institutions require all employees who provide ongoing services to patients or work in patient care or clinical care areas to have an annual influenza vaccination or possess an approved medical or religious exception. Failure to meet this requirement may result in termination of employment.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
