Under minimal direction, perform documented information security processes, with a primary focus on the university’s information security risk assessment process. As directed, research information security topics, tools, techniques, and threats. Serve as an information security resource on projects.

techniques, and threats.
3. Serve as an information security resource on projects.
4. Follow documented information security processes.
5. Learn procedures, contacts, etc. for handling service requests,
incident resolution (both hardware
and software), etc. for services.
6. Participate in change management processes.
7. Prioritize information security issues and work on multiple
tickets concurrently.
8. Perform documented information security processes under general
direction.
9. Research information security topics, tools, techniques, and
threats as directed.
10. Serve as an information security resource on projects.
11. Actively promote a customer-oriented approach throughout IT
Services.
12. Perform other related duties as required or assigned.
13. Log tickets with vendors & monitor vendor communities,
security mailing lists, etc.
14. Monitor existing tickets and manage resolution
15. Analyze logs to identify root cause
16. Know how to find answers. Understand available tools and
resources to determine
correct answers to security issues.
17. If desired, may occasionally teach one credit bearing course,
per semester, on an as
needed basis.
Minimum Qualifications:
Require a Bachelor's degree earned by date of hire and 2 years
relevant experience.
Note: This position is available to persons who are currently
located and authorized to work in the United States on a full-time
and indefinite basis. (Persons authorized to work on such a basis
include US
citizens, lawful permanent residents (“green card” holders),
asylees, refugees,
and temporary residents under IRCA.)
This position is not eligible for H1-B Visa or OPT support or for
PERM sponsorship.
Desired Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology,
or related field.
• 2-6 years’ experience with information security concepts,
methodologies, and processes.
• 2-6 years’ experience with network security concepts,
methodologies, processes, and tools.
• 2-6 years’ experience with application security concepts,
methodologies, processes, and tools.
• 2-6 years’ experience with security awareness concepts,
methodologies, processes, and tools.
• 2-6 years’ experience with information risk assessment and
mitigation concepts, methodologies, processes, and tools.
• 2-6 years’ experience with forensics concepts, methodologies,
processes, and tools.
• 2-6 years’ experience with compliance concepts, methodologies,
processes, and tools.
• Experience with threat hunting, vulnerability management and
penetration testing.
• Certifications such as GIAC, (ISC)2, ISACA, EC Council, or
similar.
• Prior service in an information security role in Higher
education
• Strong organizational skills
• Demonstrated ability to create and contribute to an inclusive
work environment
• Ability to prioritize assignments and work on multiple
assignments concurrently
• Strong customer service skills including the ability to
constructively, diplomatically, patiently, and successfully handle
customer complaints, problems, questions, conflict, and
suggestions
• Good oral and written communication skills including the ability
to communicate technical information to a variety of audiences
including end users and clients.
• Ability to communicate with diplomacy
• Ability and willingness to work independently or as part of a
team, while embracing the team environment of IT Services
• Ability and necessary knowledge to determine the cause of
problems and generate solutions to those problems.
• Ability to take the initiative and be proactive in all aspects of
this position’s listed responsibilities
• Experience with information security risk assessment concepts,
methodologies, frameworks, and processes.
