The Division of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics in the Department of Epidemiology & Public Health, with the Departments of Neurosurgery and Neurology, at the University of Maryland School of Medicine invite applications for an Assistant to Associate Professor specializing in biostatistics/bioinformatics as applied to clinical and pre-clinical data.

The successful candidate demonstrates success by publishing and in engaging multidisciplinary strategies to address meritorious research questions through the application of statistics and data science. The Candidate will engage in collaborative research that draws upon the expertise of researchers in the neurosciences by submitting grant applications, designing experiments, analyzing data and publishing scholarly articles. We are interested in candidates who have a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching/mentoring, research and service, which contribute to an equitable, inclusive and diverse scholarly environment. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.

The candidate will be expected to contribute to ongoing research projects, as well as develop their own research program over time, and additionally will provide guidance/direction to residents and medical students. Expected rank for this position will be Assistant Professor or higher, however, final rank and tenure status will be commensurate with selected candidate's experience. Secondary appointments with the Departments of Neurosurgery and Neurology are expected.

Qualifications :



Candidates must have a doctoral degree in Biostatistics, Statistics or Epidemiology to qualify for a faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor (non-tenure track or tenure track). Candidates with experience in applied biostatistics, including expertise in study design, neuroimaging data analysis and analysis of high-dimensionality ‘big data' from high-throughput bioassays, and the use and manipulation of clinical datasets, preferred. Candidates with a record of extramural research funding may be given priority.
