Position Summary:

The University of Wisconsin-Madison Department of Medicine, Division of Cardiovascular Medicine seeks applications for BC/BE non-invasive general cardiology position to join a dynamic academic program, with opportunities to create a unique clinical practice and engage in teaching and clinical research at a world-class university.

UW Madison offers outstanding clinical facilities and laboratories offering a full range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including coronary and peripheral vascular interventions, ASD/PFO closure, mitral and aortic balloon valvuloplasty, as well as both pre-clinical and clinical investigational device research. The position will entail a presence at the University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics locations in Madison.

Principal Duties:

For appointments hired as Clinical Assistant or Clinical Associate Professor:
Position responsibilities for patient care include inpatient cardiovascular medicine service and night call at Meriter hospital (a partner of UW Health); outpatient cardiovascular service including echo, nuclear medicine, and stress testing; and coverage at regional sites based on the needs of the division. Responsibilities will also include clinical teaching of medical students, residents and fellows, and other service appropriate to the position.

For appointments hired as Assistant Professor (CHS) or Associate Professor (CHS):
Provide patient care at UW Health approved location(s); provide clinical teaching to medical students and/or residents and fellows. Cardiovascular Medicine provides faculty with ample opportunities for medical education and scholarship. Time is expected to be spent on clinical research activities and academic service.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

MD or DO required

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Fellows are encouraged to apply. Additionally, the candidate will be BC/BE in internal medicine, cardiology and
echocardiography; have training in Nuclear cardiology, a strong clinical background with demonstrated excellence in patient care and teaching, and a commitment to scholarly achievement.

Candidates for appointment as Clinical Associate Professor or Associate Professor (CHS) rank will demonstrate academic credentials for the title per established SMPH guidelines.

License or Certificate:

Eligible for Wisconsin medical license

Additional Information:

This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial Caregiver Check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and then every four years.

The successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring eligibility for employment in the United States on or before the effective date of the appointment.
