  The University of North Carolina at Pembroke invites applications for a tenure-track position in Biology at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning Fall 2021 (9 month appointment). Successful candidates will have demonstration of excellence in university teaching at the undergraduate level. Broadly trained physiologist needed who will primarily teach lectures and labs in Human Anatomy and Physiology I and II, Animal Physiology, and have the ability to contribute to the general education course load (e.g. Human Biology and General Biology) and other coursework as needed depending on candidate’s background and qualifications.

Faculty members are expected to demonstrate a purposeful commitment to teaching, promote student-success by providing effective faculty advising, actively engage in the publication and presentation of scholarly research, and participate in appropriate university and department service. Opportunities exist for (optional) appointments in the Maynor Honor’s College and in the Graduate School to support the Science Education Program. Strong preference given to candidates with potential for both independent and student-mentored research, though teaching remains the primary responsibility.

Minimum Training and Experience Requirements:  Applicants must have earned a PhD in Biology or related field (e.g. Biochemistry, Biotechnology, etc.) by August 2021. Secondary preference will be given to candidates with teaching or research expertise in Computational Biology.
