Coastal Carolina University is currently accepting applications for the full-time position with benefits of Mechanical Engineer (Engineer/Associate Engineer III) in Facilities Planning & Management.
Duties include, but are not limited to: performs as principal mechanical engineer, designing and re-designing mechanical and plumbing drawings along with writing specifications; maintains working knowledge of State Engineer's Manual and policies regarding construction projects; directs and oversees the planning, design, construction, installation, renovation, interior refurbishment, maintenance and technical support for projects on campus; provides exceptional customer service to all constituents, including but not limited to, faculty, staff, students, visitors and the community at large; and other job duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in engineering/engineering technology; minimum five years engineering experience; registration as a Professional Engineer as prescribed by S.C. Codes and the S.C. board of Engineering Examiners; and possessing and maintaining a maintain valid driver's license are required. Extensive knowledge of State Engineer's rules and regulations as well as applicable engineering theory and practice; in-depth knowledge of construction contracts, bidding procedures, and construction procurement; skill in drafting and design using AutoCad; ability to write and interpret technical plans and reports; ability to communicate effectively with management and professional personnel, contractors, engineers and other constituents are also required. Experience with the Office of the State Engineer and other state agencies; design and/or working knowledge of central cooling plants; and working knowledge of Siemen's Direct Digital Controls are preferred.
