The ACS-accredited Department of Chemistry at Muskingum University invites applications for a tenure-track biochemist faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning in the Fall semester of 2021. Teaching responsibilities will include biochemistry, introductory chemistry, and chemistry courses for non-science majors, together with the possibility of teaching upper level courses in the candidate’s areas of expertise.   

 

The successful candidate will be prepared to teach a range of learners, including non-science majors, students interested in the health sciences and nutrition, and those seeking admission to medical professional schools and graduate programs in chemistry/biochemistry.   Professional activity, including publication, is required for tenure.  Excellent student advising and facilitation of experiential learning through community connections is an expectation for all faculty at Muskingum.

 

A PhD in chemistry by the start date is required, along with a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching, research, and service to the University.  ABD candidates will be considered, with the understanding that the terminal degree must be completed within one year and rank will be instructor.  An equal opportunity employer, Muskingum University particularly welcomes applications from scholars who are from populations historically underrepresented in the academy, and/or who have experience working with students from diverse backgrounds.
