Position Summary:

The Research Specialist position in the Microtechnology, Medicine and Biology (MMB) lab at the University of Wisconsin Madison provides an exciting opportunity to contribute to several ongoing translational research studies that use physiologically relevant models to further our understanding of disease biology and patient treatment outcomes. The successful candidate will help isolate cells from surgical specimens and blood samples from patients with cancer and build patient-specific microfluidic models of the tumor microenvironment that will be used to assess and predict patient responses to treatment. Additional studies will focus on characterization of immune cells isolated from patients with autoimmune disease.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

BS or BA required with an emphasis on cell biology, biochemistry, bioengineering, immunology or related fields.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Background/experience in some or all of cell culture, PCR, RNA/DNA isolation, microscopy, processing clinical tissue samples and fabrication of microfluidic devices strongly preferred.

Proficiency in Excel, Prism/Graphpad and Adobe Illustrator desired.

The ideal candidate is expected to be a productive, creative individual with the ability to think critically, learn quickly and function both independently and within a team.

Prefix assignment determined by years of relevant work experience.
