Job Summary

The Center for Inclusion and Social Change (CISC) encourages applications for an Assistant Director for the Office of First Generation Programs and Enrichment Office. This role coordinates educational programs to advise and mentor first-generation students while working collaboratively with the campus community to address issues facing historically underrepresented and underserved students.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Educational Workshop Development and Coordination:
  • Support programs and services to improve the academic and social success of underrepresented students with a focus on engagement, retention, and graduation.
  • Track quantitative and qualitative data and trends for training needs and partnership development.
  • Assist in creating intercultural student leadership trainings, conferences, and programs that emphasize intersectionality in collaboration with campus partners.
  • Cultivate a learning environment for students that encourages personal development, self-reflection, and academic success.

Campus Programming:
  • Co-coordinate the social justice conference and support first-generation workshops, conferences, and retreats hosted by the Center.
  • Champion collaboration with faculty and staff in the broad-based promotion of social change and campus diversity via campus-wide programming.

Leadership:
  • Co-supervise mentors for the first-generation mentorship program and student staff.
  • Provide timely and relevant budgetary information to staff throughout the year.


What We Can Offer

  • Anticipated starting salary is $50,000, commensurate with skills and experience.

What We Require

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Two years of post-bachelor experience with campus-wide programming and advising first-generation and/or underrepresented students.
  • Experience with budget and financial management.
  • Experience in project management and/or student program planning.
  • Experience developing and facilitating diversity and inclusion presentations and student success workshops.


What You Will Need

  • Proven track record of developing and implementing programs to scale across various constituent groups. Proven ability to engage, guide, and energize campus groups.
  • Appreciation for, and sensitivity to, equity, diversity, campus-climate, and community.
  • Understanding of nationally recognized practices for First-Generation and underrepresented Students.
  • Phenomenal communication, interpersonal, and student development skills to interact optimally with an increasingly diverse array of students, parents, faculty, alumni, and university constituents.
  • Creativity, resourcefulness, initiative, and the ability to thrive in ambiguity.


What We Would Like You To Have

  • Master’s degree in higher education administration or related field.
  • Two years of relevant full-time professional experience in post-secondary education administration including program planning, assessment, budget formulation, staff supervision, and decision-making.
  • Leadership experience in retention program development, diversity programming/education.
