All candidates must have a PhD in life sciences, chemistry, or a related field. Applicants with at least 4 year of experience in the area(s) of drug discovery and toxicology will be preferred. This includes applicants with a significant track record working with proteins and/or cell-based assays as well as toxicological experiments, as shown by authored publications in well-regarded journals. Experience with Biomek, Tecan, and Opera platforms is also preferred. Further, preference will be given to those applicants that have a clear path towards applying for grant and contract opportunities.

Position Summary

The Center for Drug Discovery in the College of Pharmacy at the University of Georgia is seeking candidates for an Assistant Research Scientist faculty position in the area of high-throughput screening and toxicological. This individual will assist in carrying out the center’s mission to be the premier portal at the University of Georgia for the development of therapeutics by supporting pre-clinical stage collaborations with extramural supporting entities. The focus of this position will be performing Drug Discovery type research, that includes performing cytotoxicity and genotoxicity assays along with high-throughput screening activities. This position will also include significant teaching responsibilities related to supporting the center’s drug discovery educational mission. The applicant is expected to foster within a defined time frame a funded research program through grants and contracts. The CDD is equipped with a myriad of equipment and infrastructure to conduct drug discovery and is located in the R.C. Wilson Building at UGA’s Athens Campus.
