The College:
The College of Pharmacy is a leader in regional, national and international areas of teaching, research, and service. The College is primarily situated on the University of Georgia campus in Athens, with extended campuses in Albany, Augusta, Savannah and Metro Atlanta (Gwinnett). The College offers pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences degree programs that are among the best in Georgia, the southeast, and the nation. UGA’s College of Pharmacy provides a superior curriculum taught by nationally-recognized faculty members in an experiential, research-based environment. The clinical training occurs at various sites throughout the state by execution of MOUs, leases and/or contracts. The Department:
The Department of Clinical and Administrative Pharmacy has three major components: Clinical Pharmacy, Clinical and Experimental Therapeutics, and Pharmaceutical Health Services, Outcomes, and Policy. Together, these components make up a diverse and thriving department with locations in Athens, Augusta, Albany and Savannah. The department is comprised of nearly 40 faculty, 12 staff and provides robust instructional offerings to more than 600 students through multiple professional and graduate degrees and certificates, including an active residency program. Position Summary

The University of Georgia ( UGA ) invites applications and nominations for the position of Department Head of Clinical and Administrative Pharmacy in the College of Pharmacy. The University seeks candidates who are innovative and accomplished leaders in their field, forward-thinking professionals with a demonstrated commitment to enhancing diversity and inclusion in all forms, dedicated to furthering an accessible and inclusive campus environment, and have a strong commitment to excellence.

Reporting directly to the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, the Department Head leads a robust department that includes instruction, research and clinical outreach. The Department Head’s general responsibilities are outlined in UGA’s Statutes under Article IX https://provost.uga.edu/policies/statutes/article-ix-departments-and-divisions/ , and include the following:

• Provide outstanding leadership, vision and strategic planning for the department, including its extended campuses throughout the state;
• Administration of all departmental programs in the areas of instruction, research, and service;
• Commitment to the success of students and faculty;
• Communicate effectively and build strong partnerships with UGA senior administrators and numerous formal external constituents across the state at extended campus locations;
• Consult with departmental faculty and prepare the annual budget of the department;
• Report annually to the Dean on the teaching, research and service programs of the department including assessments of the performance of faculty members in the department.

The position is a nine-month academic year appointment with administrative and summer months’ salary supplement and appointment to an endowed professorship while serving as Department Head.

Additional Requirements

• PharmD or PhD in a pharmacy related field;
• Currently appointed as a Tenured faculty member at the Associate Professor level, with eligibility for appointment at the Professor level at time of hire;
• At least three years of administrative responsibility in an academic environment.

To be eligible for tenure upon appointment, candidates must be appointed as a full professor, have been tenured at a prior institution, and bring a demonstrably national reputation to the institution. Candidates must be approved for tenure upon appointment before hire.

Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification

• PharmD or PhD in clinical, social or administrative pharmacy;
• Currently appointed as a Tenured faculty member at the Professor level;
• At least five years of progressive administrative responsibility in a College of Pharmacy based at a comprehensive research university;
• At least 10 years of faculty experience in an accredited College/School of Pharmacy;
• A record of achievements in professional and graduate pharmacy education.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

• An understanding of academic financial planning and fiscal management;
• Demonstrated ability to:
o lead and collaborate within the framework of a complex, integrated organization;
o communicate effectively across multiple units;
o structure a unit to support numerous missions;
o foster strategic partnerships;
o cultivate and lead teams;
o supervise and mentor faculty, staff and students.
