Work Conditions: Work is primarily performed indoors and is sedentary in nature. Must be able to lift and transport medium heavy equipment (lights, cameras, etc.) up to 50 lbs. Some overtime, evening and weekend work is required to perform duties of the job .

Duties of Position: Responsible for motion videography and still photography content for Harper College for use in digital marketing, television, social media, presentations, and virtual events, as well as other channels and platforms. The position is key to communicating and helping to advance the college’s institutional goals. Responsibilities include overseeing pre-production, direction, camera, lighting, sound, editing, motion graphics, and other postproduction duties.

Creates high-quality, highly motivational, highly creative, digital and broadcast college branded videos.

Produces completed and edited video content is the priority duty for this position. Completion of multiple short-form videos per week and longer-form content on a biweekly and monthly basis is required.

Responsible for traditional video production: lighting, blocking, direction, casting, editing, sound recording and editing/mixing.

Develops storyboarding, writing, visualizing, shooting, and editing concepts.

Understands camera equipment, lighting, sound equipment, shooting angles, editing software, and motion graphics software.

Responsible for keeping video and audio production equipment in working order; assists in repair and upkeep of studio and production sets and properties. Maintains equipment inventory.

Operates video cameras, mics, and lights on location or in the studio.

Transports, sets up, and operates production equipment, including audio and lighting equipment, for field and studio productions.

Responsible for aspects of virtual event audio and video production, including lighting, camera placement, and audio capture.

Collaborates with other marketing services team members to manage video and still image digital files and manages digital stock file access to college departments.

Collaborates in the development of content outlines and scripts.

Schedules photography and filming with departments. offices, and interview subjects.

Visually communicates the college's core messages through visual promotions and stories.

Helps with recruitment and supervision of photo and video student employees and interns.

Helps with the selection and coordination of outside video and photo vendors.

Performs related duties as assigned.

Educational Requirements: Bachelor's degree in visual communication, photography, videography or related fields required.

Experience Requirements: 3 years minimum of professional videography and/or photography experience required. Minimum of 3 years' experience working on deadline-oriented productions, preferably in an advertising/marketing and/or public relations environment. Experience should include digital video production, video concept development, script writing, directing interview subjects and talent, digital post-production, and editing. Portfolio that includes relevant, recent (within the past five years) examples of professional work required. Demonstrated experience with video and still photography lighting and audio recording for video production. Video and photo editing proficiency using Adobe Creative Cloud software; specifically, Premiere, Audition, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator. Prefer experience with Canon, Sony, and/or Nikon digital camera equipment. Understanding of marketing principles and possess excellent communication skills required. Ability to multi-task and complete multiple video projects per month and complete work on deadlines.
