Work Conditions: Work is primarily performed indoors and is sedentary in nature. Some overtime, evening and weekend work may be required. to perform duties of the job.

Duties of Position: Develops and produces graphic elements of integrated marketing campaigns and publications consistent with the Harper College brand and in accordance with Harper College brand standards. Provides creative direction to assigned accounts and assists the Creative Services Manager with design leadership. Works with printers and other outside vendors to ensure high quality production within time and budget constraints. Researches and keeps current on all industry technology advancements. May also be responsible for special areas such as: Web design including motion graphics, digital image library, Graphics file server, brand standards manual, or other related areas.

Designs and implements brand-consistent creative based on the College’s Brand Standards established by Marketing Department. Effectively manages multiple projects/tasks of varying complexities, meets deadlines and works well under pressure.

Produces, from concept through completion, integrated marketing campaign elements and publications for print, web, online marketing and social media. Prepares and adapts digital assets for use on website and e-newsletters.

Researches and recommends print and production vendors. Responsible for requesting print quotes when needed. Interfaces with printers and other media vendors to request quotes, schedule printing and attend press checks for individual printed materials.

Works in conjunction with Web Team to create superior, original designs for the Web. Possesses a strong design style, including creating design solutions within the constraints of the Internet.

Collaborates with all other marketing services teams, including marketing specialists, web, social media, print, and mail, to provide comprehensive campaigns and marketing communication solutions that advance college priorities.

Presents creative ideas, concepts, and finished work to campus clients at all levels of the organization.

Creates design solutions consistent with the college’s mission and core values.

Makes procedural decisions in absence of Creative Manager.

Provides leadership in collaboration with Creative Services Manager for development and management of the college’s graphic identity and visual brand. Possess a solid understanding of client deliverables, and the ability to take responsibility for them.

Collaborates with clients and other members of the marketing team to deliver graphic services that meet time, cost, quality, and strategic parameters.

Schedules and art directs photo shoots for assigned projects with outside or inhouse professionals.

Prepares/edits photos for use in print, web and social media.

Operates all current industry software as well as the College’s job tracking and file transfer programs.

Keeps up to date with industry standards, technological advancements with regard to computer system hardware, software, production, printing processes, proofing processes, digital photography, etc.

Research and recommend appropriate technological advancements related to the graphic design industry.

Responsible for output and quality standards of all digital files released for production.

Responsible for tracking jobs, include meeting all internal and external project deadlines.

Performs related duties as assigned.

Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s degree required in a Graphic Design course of study or equivalent.

Experience Requirements: Minimum five years relevant work experience. Extensive experience in appropriate software and production capabilities, including Adobe Creative Suite, HTML, XML, CSS. A strong working knowledge of InMotion job tracking system, Libris by PhotoShelter image database system and Microsoft Office 365.

Must have thorough understanding of Mac OS and current industry software; including experience with job tracking, project management, and file transfer programs. Demonstrates professionalism and team collaboration abilities.
