Job Summary: The Division of Arts and Sciences is seeking qualified candidates for a tenure track full-time Assistant Professor in Biology. Teaching responsibilities include College Biology, Cell Biology, Human Anatomy and Physiology, and corresponding laboratory courses. Successful candidates must demonstrate a willingness to teach courses beyond their area of expertise including cross discipline courses. Additional expectations include periodic course assessment, new course development, academic advisement, service to the college, and continued professional development. Faculty appointments are for a ten-month contract period and the normal teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Final appointments are budget dependent.
Requirements/Qualifications: Ph.D. in Biology or
Biological Sciences and/or related discipline is required. ABD
candidates will also be considered. However, if finalized, they
must have their PhD degree conferred at the time of hiring.
Postdoctoral experience is preferred but not required. Preference
will be given to candidates with previous experience in teaching
anatomy and physiology, cell and evolutionary biology, and
corresponding lab courses at the college-level, mentoring
undergraduate research and course development. Successful
candidates should be familiar with Blackboard learning management
system or comparable systems and publisher provided adaptive
learning resources in the relevant areas. Candidates must be able
to work safely in a teaching lab, sit and stand for long periods of
time in labs, lift and safely handle laboratory equipment,
instructional models, chemicals, reagents, glassware, etc. as
needed for teaching and research.
