Assistant Professor of Physics (Computational Materials Physics)

Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a full-time, nine-month, tenure track Assistant Professor of Physics faculty position to begin in August 2021.


The successful applicant will care about the educational goals of a diverse student population. The successful applicant is expected to:


  • Establish an externally funded research program in Computational Condensed Matter and Materials Physics.
  • Produce peer-reviewed publications
  • Engage undergraduate students in their research program
  • Teach general education physics courses, recitations, and laboratories and/or upper- division undergraduate physics majors’ courses.
  • Participate in department, university, and professional service and community outreach
  • Applicants must have an earned doctorate or the foreign equivalent in Physics or a closely related field. Applicants should have experience in Computational Condensed Matter and Materials Physics, an enthusiasm for teaching, and a commitment to improving student learning in their classroom.


The ideal applicant will have postdoctoral experience, a significant record of research and peer- reviewed publications, and strong potential for developing an externally funded research program. Although applicants in all areas of Computational Condensed Matter and Materials Physics will be given full consideration, we are particularly interested in applicants who can complement and enhance current research in the department. This research includes bioactive glasses; nucleation and crystallization in glasses; thermodynamics, and spectroscopic analysis in glassy materials; thermal and electrical transport in materials; topological materials; spintronics and magnetic materials; and multiferroic materials. In addition, the ideal applicant will have familiarity with or experience in current research-based teaching pedagogies and modern instructional technologies.
