Under the direction of the Vice President for Student Success and Retention, the Director (Director II) organizes, plans and directs the Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) at Kean University and is responsible for the administration and assessment of EOF by following all EOF State regulations. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: analyzing programmatic data and student trends; writing the EOF Annual Report; formalizing policy; administering a summer bridge program; program design and implementation; managing the New Jersey Financial Aid Management System for student grants; budget and expenditure reports; winter session funding; graduate grant funding applications; program evaluation; overseeing student persistence and retention; meeting all state and institutional guidelines for reports; attending all EOF Central Office of the Secretary of Higher Education (OSHE) trainings and meetings; and performing related work as required.  This position requires travel and a flexible scheduling including evening and weekend hours.

 

This is not a remote position and requires physical presence on campus as determined by the Supervisor. It requires working on campus during the COVID-19 pandemic and interacting directly with students following all procedures and protocols set forth in the University’s Restart Plan and any procedures/protocols created through additional correspondence. The employee must have the ability to wear a face covering for the duration of the workday during the COVID pandemic or as determined by university protocol.   

 

Qualifications: Master’s degree from an accredited college and a minimum of four years of professional work experience in the Educational Opportunity Fund Program is required.  Candidate must be student centered and knowledgeable about student development theory and intrusive advising and have experience with underrepresented groups and at risk populations. 

Knowledge of relevant state and federal laws, as well as state regulatory and administrative processes is highly desirable. Experience in student retention programming (e.g. implementation of high impact practices) and/or developmental programming is preferred, especially at the leadership level. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential.
