Lecturer (Mathematics and Mathematics
Education Academic Group)

The Mathematics and Mathematics Education Academic Group (MME) at
the NIE is part of the Singapore mathematics education ecology that
has produced a world-class system for students of varied abilities.
Our vision is to be a world class symbiosis of mathematics
educators and mathematicians. A mathematician educator is a teacher
of mathematics who bases his pedagogy on a strong foundation of
mathematics disciplinarity, learning theories and mathematics
education research findings. Our mission is to nurture
mathematician educators for Singapore and the world through
research and exemplary teaching. MME staff engage in research in
mathematics education and mathematics to meet the needs of teachers
within a changing environment, upholding the mathematical rigour
essential to a productive STEM education. We constantly seek
innovative and research-informed ways of delivering mathematics
content and pedagogy courses in an effort to develop best practices
as we collaborate with educators in the schools.
We invite qualified applicants to apply for the Lecturer
position.
Requirements
Applicants should have an
established track record in tertiary teaching for one or more of
the areas listed below as well as administrative experience in
co-ordinating large courses.
• Statistics (undergraduate and postgraduate)
• Statistics Education
• Subject Knowledge (Elementary Mathematics for Primary School Teachers)
• Practicum supervision for student teachers
• Supervision of graduate research students in Statistics and Statistics Education
Responsibilities
Successful candidates will
be expected to:
-
contribute to teaching and course development at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, as well as related activities such as the supervision of student teachers during teaching practice and graduate research in Statistics

undertake research projects and to publish from their work
-
teach psychometrics and educational assessment courses
