Raymond R. Wong Endowed Professor in Media Ethics (PR0196/20-21)

The School now invites applications for the above position from candidates with the following caliber:

1.    Qualifications and Professional Experience
Candidates should have a minimum of 20 years of journalistic experience, of which at least 10 years must be at senior editorial management levels, and a commensurate academic background. Senior editorial experience in Hong Kong would be an added advantage.

2.    Dedication to Teaching and Mentoring
The appointed candidate shall have a strong passion for nurturing both undergraduate and postgraduate students with the latest thinking, knowledge and ethical practice in the news media. Drawing on his/her extensive industry experience, he/she will play an active role in facilitating students’ experiential learning, designing new curricula, ensuring programmes are kept abreast of developments in the news media, and equipping students with the necessary knowledge and skills to meet the changing demands of the industry.

3.    Professional Contacts and Knowledge Transfer
As a bridge between the communication industry and the School of Communication, the appointed candidate will lead the advancement of knowledge and practice in journalistic ethics both within the School and in the newsrooms of local and international media as well as new media. While academic research may not be the primary focus of his/her work, he/she is expected to champion ethical practice in journalism and foster dialogues about media ethics in Hong Kong, across the region and beyond.

The successful candidate may be appointed as an Endowed Professor or an Endowed Professor of Practice depending on his/her experience and academic qualifications. The initial appointment is for three years.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
