A full-time NIH funded postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. A. James Mixson in the Department of Pathology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine.

Our lab has pioneered several developments in the gene therapy field, including the first group to deliver intravenously tumor suppressor and antiangiogenic genes with non-viral carriers. For the past two decades, we have primarily focused on delivering therapeutic genes and siRNA by improving non-viral carriers. Our research team is interested in developing drug and gene delivery carriers targeting solid tumors. Specifically, we are investigating several histidine-rich carriers of doxorubicin, siRNA targeting oncogenes, and plasmids-expressing tumor suppressor genes to reduce breast cancer growth in a mouse model. These therapeutic agents will be evaluated alone and in combination with one another to reduce tumor growth. We seek highly motivated and enthusiastic candidates with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Required Qualifications

· Ph.D. or M.D. or equivalent degree.

· Strong background in pharmacology and molecular biology

· Excellent writing and communications skills

· Work experience with mice and tail vein injections are desired.
