Position Summary:

The Wisconsin Crop Innovation Center (WCIC) building is a 100,000 square foot agricultural biotechnology/greenhouse complex. The building houses state-of-the-art transgenic plant laboratories and greenhouses which support unprecedented scientific advancement opportunities and improves plants for humans, livestock, and the environment. The center has a high throughput transformation pipeline and molecular department capable of generating and testing transgenic and edited plants. The Center is in need of a Custodian. The candidate selected for this role will focus on cleaning and maintaining the Center to the highest standards. In additional to custodial services, the candidate will work closely with the facilities staff, assisting with general tasks such as preventive maintenance, goods receiving, safety inspections, and other daily work. The Center uses state of the art processes and equipment and we are looking for a candidate with a background in janitorial work and general maintenance and upkeep of buildings like the WCIC.

Minimum Qualifications:
-Prior job experience in janitorial or cleaning service
-Knowledge and ability to use power tools, hand tools and testing equipment

Preferred Qualifications:
-Computer knowledge and experience desirable

License or Certificate:

Must possess a valid WI driver's license and have an acceptable driving record to operate University vehicle(s).

Additional Information:

This position is a fixed-term terminal appointment with an initial length of 12 months (i.e., December 16, 2020 - December 15, 2021). This appointment may be extended to 24 months as a fixed-term terminal appointment or may become a renewable appointment depending on funding and departmental needs.

A probationary period will be required for this position.
A criminal background check will be required for this position.

Working hours may be flexible but will be daily (i.e. afternoon/evening shift possible)
