The Department of Educational Leadership within the Watson College of Education at the University of North Carolina Wilmington ( UNCW ), seeks an outstanding faculty member for an Assistant Professor, nine-month tenure-track position in the new Evaluation and Organizational Learning program beginning fall semester, 2021.
Primary responsibilities for this position include:
• Developing and teaching campus-based and web-enhanced hybrid courses or fully online courses in a dynamic graduate program focusing on methodologies and methods for research and inquiry in education, educational settings, and learning-focused organizations.
• Assisting in the ongoing growth and development of the M.S. in evaluation and organizational learning and certificate in evaluation.
• Contributing to the further development of Ed.D. programs in higher education, including community college leadership; curriculum and instruction, including curriculum equity; and educational administration, including school and district-level leadership.
• Advising students through completion of internships, culminating projects, and/or dissertations
• Maintaining an active scholarship agenda
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Applicants for this position must hold a terminal degree (i.e., Ph.D., Ed.D.) in Educational Research, Evaluation or related field from an accredited (U.S.) or certified (international) postsecondary institution.
ABD candidates may be considered, dependent upon projected date that the doctorate degree will be conferred.
Demonstrated evidence of ways research, teaching, and service contribute to building and sustaining equitable, diverse, and inclusive communities.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience
• If candidate is ABD, it is preferred that terminal degree be in hand by begin date of appointment.
• Experience leading evaluations and other applied inquiry projects.
• Experience conducting evaluation in contexts outside of formal education, such as community-based organizations, foundations, nonprofits, business and industry, government agencies, and/or health and human service organizations.
• Expertise and experience in organizational learning and evaluation capacity building.
• Expertise and experience in participatory evaluation approaches.
• Experience conducting evaluation in international contexts.
• Expertise and experience in critical evaluation/research.

The Watson College of Education ( WCE ) (www.uncw.edu/ed) is a rapidly growing college with over 65 tenure-track faculty members working in undergraduate and master’s programs in the Department of Early Childhood, Elementary, Middle, Literacy and Special Education and the Department of Instructional Technology, Foundations and Secondary Education, and master’s and doctoral programs in the Department of Educational Leadership.
