Position Summary:
The Department of Communications at Susquehanna University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Communications, Social Media Production to join seven colleagues in a broad-based, flourishing undergraduate Communications program.

Duties include teaching existing courses in video and online production, with the potential to develop new curricular areas in communications as they emerge; serving as an academic advisor to students; ongoing scholarly and/or creative productivity; and departmental and institutional service.

Standard teaching load is three courses per semester. The department strongly values student mentoring and active learning, and the successful candidate will demonstrate strong evidence for the potential to provide excellence in undergraduate teaching, advising, and mentoring.

Service expectations include participation in departmental activities, student recruiting and retention, and membership on University committees. The successful candidate will also maintain an active scholarly agenda.


Required Qualifications:
ABD or MFA in a related field (where the MFA is the terminal degree) is required.

Demonstrated success or evidence of potential to excel in teaching and advising undergraduates and scholarship is required.

Ability to teach social media practices and strategies, online content management systems, video fundamentals and editing, MS Office, and Adobe Creative Suite is required.


Preferred Qualifications:
Ph.D. in a Communications discipline is preferred.
