The department seeks applicants with expertise in Medical Sociology, with a focus on health inequalities, particularly regarding issues of race. This search is part of a University-wide, multi-year hiring initiative designed to hire outstanding researchers and teachers who are reflective of our diverse student body and committed to interdisciplinarity (i.e., working with colleagues across different subfields and disciplines) and the pursuit of external grants. Of special interest are candidates who can further the University’s efforts to foster diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Successful candidates must maintain a strong research program, including the pursuit of external grants, demonstrate excellence in teaching and mentoring, and demonstrate service contributions to the profession, the department, the university and potentially, to the larger community. This position is supported by a university endowment and comes with a research budget beyond the customary start-up costs and faculty professional development funds.
