Recruiter / Advisor for Woodstock Center

Position Purpose: The Recruiter/Advisor for Woodstock Center serves the University by recruiting adult degree completion and/or graduate students as well as counseling prospective students throughout the admission process.

  • Essential Job Functions:

  • Serves as a member of the adult and graduate recruitment and advising team at AU Woodstock Center as well as Aurora University.
  • Develops and implements recruiting strategies for adult degree completion students and/or graduate students for programs offered through the AU Woodstock Center.
  • Advises adult degree completion students and/or graduate students who attend AU Woodstock Center. Provides accurate information about Aurora University’s academic and transfer policies, admission procedures, and degree programs, including academic requirements for specific programs. Creates individual student academic plans.
  • Supports students throughout enrollment processes, providing information, reviewing credentials and facilitating appointments with appropriate faculty and staff.
  • Makes admission decision for adult degree completion and/or graduate admission files.
  • Represents Aurora University at internal and external recruiting events, including area companies/agencies and community colleges.
  • Plans and coordinates special events for adult students to support enrollment and advising goals.
  • Performs unofficial evaluations of college transcripts for incoming students.
  • Collaborates with academic chair to determine academic course schedule for advisees to facilitate student retention, new student enrollment and appropriate class size.
  • Collaborates with AU Woodstock Center staff, program directors, University Communication and the Center for Adult and Graduate Studies to design marketing materials. Accountable for marketing materials used in programs for which he or she recruits and advises.
  • Assists with facility management of Woodstock Center by participating in evening and Saturday office coverage.

  • Essential Job Requirements:


    • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.


    • Experience in higher education important.
    • Experience in admissions or sales preferred.


    • Sensitivity to the needs of and ability to relate well to adult and graduate students is necessary.
    • Ability to relate well to prospective adult students necessary.
    • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
    • Customer-service orientation and professional manner.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft software essential. Knowledge of Colleague/Slate preferred.
    • Ability to handle and act upon confidential information.
    • Ability to interact with a diverse group of faculty, staff, students, and parents; and to develop strong working relationships with colleagues, staff, administrators, students and the general public.
    • Ability to prioritize work and to meet deadlines required. Flexibility with an evolving work situation.

    Special Requirements:

    • Valid Illinois driver's license.
    • Ability to travel regularly to high schools and career fairs, providing own vehicle.
    • Some evening and Saturday hours required.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to move about campus and other locations.
    • Ability to interact via telephone, in person and via electronic media.
