Instructional Assistant Professor - Technology Project Management - (FAC001618)
The Technology Project Management (TPM) program at the University of Houston seeks qualified candidates for a non-tenure-track Instructional Assistant Professor position in Technology Project Management. The preferred candidate will be responsible for teaching courses in this master’s level program on topics directly related to the processes outlined in the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) from the Project Management Institute. Additionally, this person will participate in program, department, and college committee assignments and in other activities related to the TPM program and the rest of the campus. The anticipated start date is September 1, 2021.
The Technology Project Management Program is a master program that is designated as a STEM program (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). An earned Ph.D. in Project Management or a Ph.D. in a related discipline, such as Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Engineering Management, Information Technology, Computer Science, etc.., with a strong teaching background in all aspects of Project Management.
Holding a Project Management Professional certificate (PMP) from the Project Management Institute (PMI) is strongly preferred. Other experiences are also preferred including:
- Intimate knowledge of the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK)
- Five or more years of industry experience working as a project manager
- Work and teaching experience related to energy, healthcare, transportation/logistics, and/or information technology industries
