The Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health seeks applications for an Education Specialist on the Mesa, Arizona campus. This position reports to the Director, Clinic Operations. The purpose of this job is to support the daily functions of clinic operations. The Education Specialist will support the daily maintenance of ASDOH’s D2-D4 curriculum under the Associate Dean for Patient Care & Clinic Education, Assistant Dean for Comprehensive care.

Major job duties:
  • Assist with recording final grades for students as needed.
  • Oversee the tracking and maintenance of Student Absent Request Forms.
  • Coordinate and facilitate all clinic board exams (WREB, CDCA/ADEX, Mock Boards).
  • Prepare reports as required requested.
  • Provides administrative support to the clinical faculty as needed.
  • Supports Clinic Director in formulating, regulating and enforcing ASDOH policies and procedures.
  • Maintains and updates as needed compliance and training documents (i.e. clinic manual, faculty onboarding documents, QI documents, etc.).
  • Coordinates and manages schedules for student internal rotations, emergency on-call faculty, student and faculty volunteers.
  • Manages student and patients exposure related injuries including logging all clinical incidents and follow appropriate reporting procedures on reporting.
  • Coordinates different projects that fall under Smile Forward (i.e. review of adult Smile Forward applications, denture patient program with ADF, Smile Forward – Kids) and manages as all phases of the Smile Forward program.
  • Coordinates CPR classes for faculty, staff and students.
  • Checks all curriculum and portal calendars to avoid potential conflicts in the clinic.
  • Schedules and organizes meetings, draft correspondence, edit documents, takes meeting minutes as needed.
  • Facilitates ASDOH’s presence at monthly MCC meetings as well as documents and follow-ups.
  • Serves as a backup for other Clinical Education Specialist and Clinical Administrative Support staff.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Job responsibilities:
  • Assists in facilitating, documenting and reporting faculty, staff and student annual recertification requirements (i.e. OSHA, HIPAA, Infection Control, Emergency Response, CPR).
  • Assists in developing, administering and evaluating projects as assigned.
  • Conducts research as appropriate to projects or initiatives.
  • Assists with coordination of D2 Clinic Orientation as it pertains to clinic operations and internal rotations.
  • Assists in the planning, organizing and implementation of ASDOH responsibilities pertaining to WREB & CDCA.
Skills/Experience:
  • Must have excellent computer skills with good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Must be familiar or become familiar with Axium Ascend and other clinic specific programs.
  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Exceptional writing skills.

  • Computer skills – including social networking and internet based education.

  • Excellent organizational skills.

  • Independent problem solving skills.

  • Ability to deescalate in a conflict or confrontation.

  • The ability to manage multiple tasks, and establish priorities, project management skills and experience required.

  • Experience in dental & medical field and education is preferred.

  • Two year college certificate or equivalent preferred.
