Dominican University invites applications for an Assistant Professor within its Elizabeth T. MacNeil School of Nursing’s BSN program.  The Assistant Professor is a tenure track faculty position beginning August 15, 2021.    The successful candidate will become a vital member of the faculty team committed to excellence and innovation in teaching and service while upholding the mission and values of Dominican University.  The candidate, reporting to the Executive Director of Nursing, is expected to teach nine (9) credit hours per semester as well as academic advising and clinical supervision.  Additionally, as a tenure track faculty member, along with teaching, responsibilities include scholarship and service which can include participation on department, college and university level committees as well as in discipline specific professional organizations and community service.   Dominican University is a culturally inclusive campus with its status as a Hispanic serving institution. Job Components:
  1. Provide exemplary instruction in the didactic, simulation lab, and clinical areas of teaching.
  2. Assist with curriculum development, implementation, and systematic evaluation planning.
  3. Participate in recruitment, retention, and successful progression of students within program.
  4. Assist with developing and implementing admission, progression, and graduation policies.
  5. Participate in mentoring, advising, and registering students for nursing courses.
  6. Partner with Director of Simulation Education Center to develop, implement, and evaluate clinical scenarios within the simulation laboratory environment to optimize student learning outcomes.
  7. Commit to working with diverse student and community populations while building a culturally diverse and inclusive educational environment.
  Qualifications   Required:
  • Doctorate in Nursing; background in Medical-surgical nursing with a specialty in Pediatrics
  • Unencumbered State of Illinois Professional Registered Nurse license is required
  • At least 3 years of current nursing practice experience
  Preferred:
  • Evidence of undergraduate teaching excellence
  • Evidence of teaching our experiences involving teaching, mentoring or advising students from diverse backgrounds or from underserved populations
  • Ability to foster diversity and inclusion in the curriculum or in the discipline
