Responsibilities:
The Division of Social Sciences and History at Delta State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Sociology, to begin August 2021. The successful candidate will teach 12 credit hours per semester, which will include introductory, advanced, and graduate-level courses. The new faculty member will also develop an active research agenda and engage in service to the department, college, and university.

Teaching may include students working towards the Master of Arts in Liberal Studies and the Master of Science in Social Justice and Criminology. Opportunities exist for collaborative research and service with flexibility to work with various centers of excellence on the DSU campus, (i.e. Madison Center; Delta Center for Culture and Learning; International Education).

Qualifications:
A Ph.D. in Sociology by the time of appointment. Field of expertise is open, though preference will be given to candidates who can teach courses in race, the sociology of education, social problems, and/or sustainable development. Candidates will be expected to teach research methods in the social sciences, including quantitative methods.
