Position Announcement: C.B. Smith Professor of Hotel Management
Position Available: August 2021


Principle Duties: Applications and nominations are invited for the position of C.B. Smith Professor of Hotel Management at the College of Health and Human Science’s School of Hospitality and Tourism Management (HTM). The individual that holds the C.B. Smith professorship will teach undergraduate courses in Lodging Management, Resort Management Property & Engineering Management, and Hotel Feasibility and Business Development. In addition, this individual will teach Advanced Hotel Management at the Graduate level, as well as direct and participate in graduate committees. The C.B. Smith Professor is the Director of the Center for the Study of Lodging Operations. One of three Centers in the School of HTM, the Center seeks to advance the hotel industry at the local, national, and international level through the use of basic and applied research to deal with industry issues and challenges.


Qualifications: We are looking for an academic leader and scholar with strong commitment to the discovery, learning, and engagement missions of the School. Applicants must have scholarly credentials commensurate with the rank of a tenured Full Professor, a PhD with specialization in HTM or related consumer-focused disciplines, a strong record of published research and external funding, and prior experience in academic administration, undergraduate and graduate education, and development. The successful candidate will be someone with excellent communication skills who values and promotes diversity.


The School & University: The School of HTM is an integral part of the College of Health and Human Sciences, with a Program ranked among the best in the United States. Purdue HTM is situated in the heart of the main campus in West Lafayette, Indiana. The University has more than 44,000 students and is located in a prosperous county of about 150,000 people.
