The Department of Psychology at Arizona State University invites applications for two full-time Lecturers with an anticipated start date of August 2021. These are full-time, benefits-eligible, non-tenure-eligible positions renewable on an academic year basis (August 16th to May 15th) contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of resources, and the needs of the university.

The Psychology Department is managing the expansion of Arizona State’s Neuroscience major, including the development of online course offerings. The successful candidates will be expected to teach four sections per semester, online and in-person, at the undergraduate level in support of the Neuroscience major. Assigned courses will typically include one or more foundational courses (e.g., Introduction to Neuroscience, Research Methods), along with one or more upper-division breadth courses in the candidate’s area. The successful candidates will join an active, committed group of teaching faculty in delivering high quality undergraduate courses, and will be expected to participate in service to the university and profession as appropriate. Lecturer positions include the potential for promotion within the lecturer ranks, and opportunities for summer teaching.

The requirement for the positions are a Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Psychology, Biology, or closely related discipline by the time of appointment.

Desired qualifications include: (1) experience teaching undergraduate neuroscience courses; (2) experience with multiple teaching modalities, especially online course development and teaching; (3) familiarity with “best practices” in undergraduate education; (4) professional engagement with students in and out of the classroom; and (5) demonstrated success meeting the needs of diverse student populations and/or reaching out to diverse communities. Applicants are expected to give a teaching demonstration if invited to interview.

To apply, please submit the following as pdf(s) through Interfolio at http://apply.interfolio.com/81381: (1) a letter of application; (2) curriculum vitae or resume; (3) statement of teaching philosophy; (4) if available, syllabi and course-related material (including evaluations) for no more than two courses you have taught; (5) a statement addressing how your past and/or potential contributions to diversity and inclusion will advance ASU’s commitment to inclusive excellence; and (6) three letters of recommendation, which should be uploaded by your recommenders to Interfolio directly. Email and paper applications will not be accepted.

Inquiries concerning the search should be addressed to the Chair of the Search Committee, Whitney Hansen, at whitney.hansen@asu.edu. Be sure to include “Lecturer Search” in the subject line when sending e-mails.

Initial deadline for receipt of complete applications is January 11, 2021. If not filled, review of complete applications will continue every two weeks thereafter until the search is closed.
