The School of Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University invites applications for a tenured faculty position at the Full or Associate Professor level. Purdue University seeks to attract exceptional candidates with interests and expertise in Heat Transfer, particularly in the areas of thermal management and energy efficiency in electronics systems, phase change heat transfer including at the micro- and nano-scale, and renewable and sustainable energy systems. Outstanding candidates of other areas of heat transfer will also be considered. Successful candidates must hold a Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline and a demonstrated excellent record of building an independent research program at the forefront of their field, as well as educating and mentoring students. The successful candidate will conduct original research, advise graduate students, teach undergraduate and graduate level courses, and perform service at the School, College, and University levels.

Currently, the School of Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University is ranked 7th nationally for undergraduate programs and 8th for graduate programs by U.S. News and World Report. The School is one of the largest at Purdue University, and in the nation, with 1493 undergraduates, 747 graduate students, 90 faculty, and 69 staff. The School is home of the Herrick, Zucrow and Maha research laboratories with significant infrastructure and a long tradition of collaboration with industry, national laboratories, and other universities. Mechanical Engineering faculty members also carry out a significant portion of research at the Birck Nanotechnology Center. The Bechtel Innovation Design Center and Maker Spaces provide hands-on experiences together with an entrepreneurship ecosystem through the Purdue Foundry and Discovery Park.
