Dr. Kan Shao’s Computational Risk Assessment Laboratory (https://kshao.pages.iu.edu/) in the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health at Indiana University School of Public Health‐Bloomington invites applicants for a post‐doctoral fellow supported by an NIH/NIEHS grant. The successful candidate will develop advanced computational and statistical (Bayesian) methods to model genomic dose‐response data in support of chemical risk assessment. The candidate will be involved in a dynamic and multidisciplinary research group and have opportunities to participate in educational activities and to collaborate with external research institutes. The postdoc fellow will be co‐advised by Dr. Kan Shao and Dr. James Klaunig (http://www.klauniglab.com/) in the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health at IUB. Applications will be reviewed on an ongoing basis, but applications received by December 6, 2020 will be given full consideration and the search will remain open until a suitable candidate is found.   This 2‐year appointment has an anticipated start date of January 4, 2021, and has the potential for renewal if mutually agreeable. Salary is commensurate with NIH guidelines for postdoc salary.

Qualifications: The successful candidate should have a doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) by time of appointment, in a relevant field, including but not limited to: Toxicology, Computational Toxicology, Molecular Toxicology, Biostatistics or Statistics, Chemical Informatics, etc. Because of the nature of this laboratory, demonstrated skills in scientific programming (preferably in R or Python) and quantitative analytics are also required. Previous experience with dose‐response modeling, Bayesian statistics, or quantitative risk assessment is preferred. In addition to good analytical skills, a professional attitude, attention to detail, the ability to work independently, and willingness to work in a collaborative environment and to value the importance of teamwork are also required. How to apply: Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
