Position Summary:

The Division of Information Technology (DoIT) provides information technology services to UW-Madison, all UW campuses, and the UW System and other agencies, employing approximately 600 people and operating with a budget of approximately $100 million. The Learning Technologies Systems Administrator serves the teaching and learning mission of the University of Wisconsin-Madison from within the Learn@UW-Madison service, a group located within DoIT's Academic Technology (AT) department (for more about AT and Learn@UW-Madison, see https://at.doit.wisc.edu/learn-uw/ ). The individual in this position supports the use of UW-Madison's centrally supported advanced quizzing tools (Atomic Assessments, which leverages the Learnosity question engine), used primarily in support of STEM courses, by providing application administration and product management for the tools including configuration, quality assurance testing, user support, integration management, vendor management, and internal process improvement. This role also provides direct consultative support to faculty and instructional staff who may be seeking to effectively implement quizzing activities involving complex scientific, technological, engineering and/or mathematical concepts. In addition, the Learning Technologies Systems Administrator provides ancillary administration and user support for the Canvas learning management system (LMS) as well as other learning technologies supported by Learn@UW Madison, such as Kaltura MediaSpace and the AEFIS course evaluation and assessment tool.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Bachelor's degree required. Advanced degree in training, education, engineering, or related field is preferred.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Required Qualifications
* Minimum of one year hands-on experience of administration and/or management of an application with a small to moderate number of end users.
* Minimum of one year working directly with a learning management system, other learning technologies, or related software.
* Minimum of one year experience related to application support, either in a technical support area, academic department, computer lab, help desk, library, or training environment.
* Demonstrated commitment to excellent customer service.
* Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
* Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team player.

Preferred Qualifications
* Experience with direct support of faculty and instructors in a higher education environment.
* Experience working with online quizzing software.
* Experience with interacting with and creating learning content containing scientific and mathematical notation, as well as demonstrated comprehension of complex mathematics.
* Experience with software testing and understanding of quality assurance practices.
* Experience with managing and/or interacting with software and/or subscription service vendors.
* Project management experience or familiarity with project management methodologies.

The candidate selected for this position will initially work remotely with an approved telecommuting agreement. Remote work requires successful candidates to possess their own high-speed internet and phone to perform the work on an employer-provided computer. In the future, this position will likely be on-site, but future telecommuting could be discussed with a new approved telecommuting agreement. Candidate may, on occasion, be required to report to campus due to operational needs for meetings, trainings, or other activities.
