Job Summary/Basic Function
• Part-time, non-benefited, online adjunct position with Liberty University Online in the College of Arts & Sciences
• Teaching of material from the approved curriculum in accordance with an assigned schedule to ensure student satisfaction
• Assist students in achieving completion of objectives and learning outcomes
• Provide regular and timely feedback to students
• Participate in school retention initiatives by maintaining productive contact with students and by getting in touch with and offering assistance to absent students
• Advise students in matters related to academics, attendance, and behaviors
• Motivate students to actively participate in all aspect of the educational process
• Maintain and report student grades and attendance in accordance with university policies
• Maintain university standards regarding course activity, emails, grading, and communication with Instructional Mentor and students
• Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
• Master’s degree in Military Studies, Military Science, Military History, Military Operational Art & Science, National Security & Strategic Studies; National Resource Strategy or similarly related field; or Master’s degree plus18 graduate hours in those same fields; or Bachelor’s degree with substantial military service as a Non-Commissioned Officer (E-5); Senior Non-Commissioned Officer (E-6 and above), Warrant Officer (W-1 or above) or a Commissioned Officer (O-4 and above) in the field being taught and have been separated with an honorable discharge or retirement.
• All educational degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
• Possess a broad knowledge of the military organizational structure, mission objectives, function, procedures, agency regulations and policies
• Broad knowledge and experience of military training and field training tactics and maneuvers
• Broad knowledge of the global environment, US national security policymaking, international political structures, and strategy.
• Broad knowledge and wide range of experience in national security decision-making process, national security policy and strategy and/or international relations
• Broad knowledge of national military strategy, military thought, and theory; military-history: organization, capabilities, and limitations of armed force.
• Full adherence to the evangelical mission and doctrine of Liberty University
• Familiarity with and use of collaborative learning techniques and student-centered methods of instruction
• Proven organizational skills and ability to complete assignments timely and accurately with minimal supervision
• Possess excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with students with a wide range of skills
• Possess excellent interpersonal, customer service, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work well with students, faculty, and staff
• Demonstrated strength or potential in teaching at the college level
Preferred Qualifications
• Terminal degree in Military Studies, Military Science, Military History, Military Operational Art & Science, National Security & Strategic Studies; National Resource Strategy or similarly related field; or Terminal degree plus18 graduate hours in those same fields; or Master’s degree with substantial military service as a Non-Commissioned Officer (E-5); Senior Non-Commissioned Officer (E-6 and above), Warrant Officer (W-1 or above) or a Commissioned Officer (O-4 and above) in the field being taught and have been separated with an honorable discharge or retirement.
• 5 plus years of command experience
• Extensive knowledge of research methods and the ability to conduct research in the area of expertise
• Experience with Blackboard or other online course management tools
• Excellent record of collegiate teaching
• Industry related experience
