Position Information

This is a full-time, permanent (probationary) position.

This position may require the incumbent to be on-call 24/7 to assist with systems maintenance and/or resolving emergency or urgent issues. The incumbent is required to maintain contact with their campus outside of their normal working hours on a regular basis per the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement requirements. Remote contact shall include telephone, cell phone, wireless data access device, remote monitoring of any hardware or software device, and/or electronic mail notification regarding the status of a campus system.

Conditions of Employment

Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

The salary range for this classification is: $6,249 to $12,100 monthly.

Major Duties

Under the general direction of the Associate Director of Enterprise Applications, the Functional/Technical Analyst is responsible for providing functional and technical support for Enterprise Application Systems, including SalesForce and PeopleSoft CS system, as well as integrations/interfaces to ancillary systems like Document Imaging system, Service Management system, etc. In a rapidly evolving and constantly changing technology landscape, this role provides critical subject matter expertise in deployment, implementation, integration, and support of systems used in higher education, and remains adaptable and proficient in the latest technologies.

Primary responsibilities include: Administer, configure, test, upgrade, and support application systems and operations relating to core ERP systems: Salesforce (tools including, but not limited to, Marketing Cloud, EDA, and Service Cloud) and PeopleSoft Campus Solutions (all modules); and relates ancillary systems. Administers and supports implementations, integrations, migration, upgrade, configuration, reporting, tuning, usage control, and monitoring of these systems. The Functional/Technical Analyst participates in I.T. projects and is responsible for gathering functional business, technical, and integration requirements. Periodically monitor the use and performance of applications/processes and make upgrade/patching recommendations. Work with user groups and other technical or appointed staff to optimize the use of application functionality. Perform other application or system-related tasks as assigned. Make analytical studies of data processing procedures, systems, and organization structure in order to design and formulate new or revised methods of applying computer technology for the solution of operational data processing problems. Troubleshoots and resolve application-related issues during development, as well as in production. Maintains IT professional standards of anonymity for data that reside on campus servers and computer systems. Maintains confidentiality and security of all information and data and provides excellent customer service.

Qualifications

Required Experience: Minimum of seven years of direct experience with implementation/configuration/support/upgrades of Oracle PeopleSoft Campus Solutions and/or Salesforce, as well as leading functional/technical fit-gap analysis, and technical root-cause analysis.

Required Education: A bachelor's degree in computer science or business, or equivalent training and applied experience or equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university.

Preferred Experience:
Ten years technical/functional experience in higher education enterprise application implementation and support ,including full systems development life cycle system implementations. Experience with SQL, SOQL, or SQR.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

A solid foundation of knowledge and skills in Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), applications programming, systems and business processes analysis, and related programming support functions.
Ability to lead technical implementation projects, including the gathering/documenting of requirements and use-cases and clearly articulate envisioned processes is required. Be able speak with DBA's, PeopleSoft developers regarding technical matters, and be able to explain issues in plain language for functional team members.

Monitor and optimize process performance
Contact and communicate with CSU systemwide or manufacturer help desks for technical support
Understand special policies and procedures of the CMS project from the Chancellor's Office perspective and how they impact the University;
Work effectively with individuals in the campus and CSU system organizations
Work independently, organize and plan work and projects, including handling multiple priorities in a project environment
Meet stringent deadlines and complete assignments with general direction
Read, analyze, interpret, troubleshoot, and communicate effectively and efficiently
Use judgment to make decisions, interpret, test and apply solutions
Recognize and identify training needs and recommend appropriate method of delivery; and initiative and ingenuity to solve problems and to suggest improvements
Communicate clearly and effectively, with technical and non-technical individuals within a culturally diverse campus environment.

Responsibilities

40% Serves as functional and technical expert toward the administration, configuration, testing, upgrading, and supporting of university application systems and operations relating to ERP and ancillary systems including, but not limited to, Salesforce (Marketing Cloud, EDA, and Service Cloud, etc) and PeopleSoft Campus Solutions (all modules), TouchNet, Document Imaging System, etc. Administers and supports implementations, integrations, migration, upgrade, configuration, reporting, tuning, usage control, and monitoring of these systems. Participates in technical projects for solving business requirements and is responsible for gathering functional business, technical, and integration requirements and working with project team to develop and implement solutions. Regularly monitors the use and performance of applications/processes and makes upgrade/patching recommendations.

30% Serve as functional/technical liaison between department subject matter experts, IT teams, consultants, and external vendors to support/sustain university application systems. Provide expert technical support (using root-cause analysis) for quickly isolating issues in production and non-production. Performs systematic testing and support during system upgrades and patches, and issue resolution. Define and document hardware and software requirements for implementation of new functionality. Gather requirements and develop detailed program specifications for modifications/enhancements to administrative systems.

20% Generate ad hoc reports using SQL and application-based reporting tools, enter and track to completion operational and project tasks in university project management software tool, participate in CSU systemwide technical and functional user groups, reporting relevant details back to team, Coordinate and conduct testing of new releases, retrofits to customizations, and regression testing of functions impacted by bug fixes and enhancements.

10% Participate in meetings and maintain a status on all active project and operational tasks. Provides consultation to operational staff. Attend and participate in departmental and team meetings.
