Boston University School of Medicine seeks a qualified candidate for a full-time, core faculty position in the Mental Health Counseling and Behavioral Medicine (MHCBM) CACREP-accredited Program in the Department of Psychiatry at the Assistant Professor level. All faculty appointments in the medical school are non-tenure track. The anticipated start date is fall of 2021. The MHCBM Program is uniquely positioned within a medical school that has the largest safety-net hospital and busiest trauma and emergency services center in New England as its primary teaching affiliate, Boston Medical Center. The location of the Program allows for exceptional teaching, training, practice, and research opportunities that align with our institutional values regarding diversity, equity, and inclusion.

 

Responsibilities:

The individual selected will be responsible for teaching two, 3-credit courses each fall and spring semester with additional opportunities to teach in the summer terms. Additional responsibilities include student advisement and mentoring, serving on program, department, and university committees, service to the community, and engaging in scholarship and grant-funded activities. Full-time core faculty are contracted to work for 12 months of the year and expected to work during the summer months.

 

Qualifications:

An earned doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision from a CACREP-accredited program is required. Applicants must also have teaching and clinical experience, and demonstrate a strong professional affiliation for the counseling profession, specifically counselor education. The successful applicant will be licensed or license-eligible in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

 

In addition, preferred qualifications include:

Clinical experience in hospital, academic medical center, or integrated care settings
Teaching experience in a master’s-level counselor education program
Potential for professional leadership and/or scholarship at the national level
Demonstrated interest in scholarship and teaching in multicultural and social justice counseling
Successful history of grant funding
