SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The School of Business at Whitworth University invites applications for a tenure-track, Assistant Professor of Finance.

The Whitworth School of Business (WSB) is in the process of pursuing AACSB accreditation and is recruiting scholars who can contribute to this effort. The WSB is committed to providing its students with an outstanding business education. Small class sizes combined with close interaction between students and faculty enable our graduates to learn the essential professional skills and knowledge to successfully compete for positions in today’s high velocity global marketplace. The undergraduate degree program is the one of the largest on campus with an estimated 16% of all Whitworth students choosing to major in business. The school offers both a traditional undergraduate degree in business with concentrations in accounting, economics, finance, management, and marketing, and a unique undergraduate degree completion program in organizational management. The graduate program provides an exceptional Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree. Faculty members are expected to teach in each of these programs.

PRIMARY TEACHING OPPORTUNITIES:
The successful candidate will be an expert in applied finance who is excited about teaching and mentoring students. Possible courses include: corporate finance, real estate finance, derivatives, financial statement analysis, advanced financial statement analysis, and financial management. The Whitworth Student Investment Group (WSIG), which is open to all majors at the university, is one of the few student led investment clubs in the U.S. The Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) team sponsored by WSIG has won the Regional CFA Research Challenge for the last seven years. The new assistant professor of finance will work closely with WSIG, the CFA team, and the faculty adviser of WSIG.
