Position Summary:
The Counselor-Specialized in Servicing Black, Indigenous, People of Color Students provides clinical, emergency, consultation and outreach services to the Susquehanna University community, specifically, students of color and other marginalized groups, virtually.

Specific Responsibilities
  • Serve as a liaison for the Counseling Center to Communities of Color.
  • Provide individual and group clinical services to students, primarily but not exclusively brief individual therapy, to address personal and interpersonal concerns along with race-based stress, racism, marginalization, oppression, and racial trauma.
  • Participate in outreach with Students of Color and other marginalized communities.
  • Consult with psychiatrist, medical providers, and other mental health professionals as appropriate.
  • Consult with students, parents, faculty and staff regarding mental health and developmental needs of students as needed and appropriate.
  • Maintain relevant paperwork and documentation.


    Required Qualifications:
    Education
    A master’s degree in psychology, counseling, or social work required. Appropriate licensure or license-eligible in Pennsylvania required. For social workers: LSW required, for counselors: LPC required, for psychologist: license eligibility required. Postdoctoral supervision for psychologists can be provided.

    Experience
    Three years of demonstrated experience and/or expertise in working with Black, Indigenous, and People of Color on issues of race-based stress, trauma, and racism and in providing therapy/counseling with Ethnic Minority people required.

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
    Knowledge of English language including meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition and grammar. Skilled at written and verbal communication. Ability to use an EMR system (Titanium) and HIPPA compliant Zoom features. Knowledge and familiarity with Microsoft Word and Powerpoint.
