The Center for Learning and Teaching (CLT) at Old Dominion University is seeking candidates for an Instructional Technology Specialist (full-time, 12 month) position. This position will provide instructional technology, development and maintenance of course materials, faculty development, and support for special projects for the Office of Distance Learning and the CLT.

Required Education: Master’s degree or bachelor’s degree with work experience at a level which equates to an advanced degree.

Required Qualifications: Experience in translation of learning objectives into courseware product. Basic understanding of learning theory and practice. In-depth hands-on expertise in learning technology development and deployment. Basic understanding of learning theories, principles, and practices. Skills and abilities in a wide array of learning technologies including traditional technologies such as, Microsoft & Adobe products, programming skills, course management systems such as Blackboard. Project management skills. Attention to detail. Well-organized. Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and publishing). Strong interpersonal skills. In-depth understanding of design and production of media elements such as graphics, sound, and video. Professionalism necessary to operate easily in a higher education environment.

Preferred Qualifications: Some knowledge of and experience working with leading technologies in current and emerging web design and development technologies as well as project management applications. Basic understanding of the theories, principles, and practices in the development and maintenance of accessible instructional materials.
