Lecturer/Assistant Teaching Professor of Business

Penn State Beaver invites applications for the position of Lecturer/Assistant Teaching Professor of Business (focus on Business Administration and Management Information Systems) (rank determined by qualifications), multi-year position, 36 weeks-3 years with potential for renewal, to begin August 2021, or as negotiated.

Responsibilities: Teach undergraduate courses each semester using various delivery methods including asynchronous web (online), synchronous video conferencing, face to face, and hybrid. This position entails teaching both for Penn State's World Campus Business Program (a completely online program with courses taught as they are designed) and the Penn State Beaver Business Program, delivering the majority of the courses online to the World Campus and the remaining courses to Penn State Beaver (delivery method varies). Beaver Campus will be the candidate's home campus, requiring a regular onsite presence at that campus, while conducting remote service and teaching for the World Campus program.

Teaching assignments include upper and lower division courses in business, technology, and analytics.

Participate in professional development and in course, curriculum and program development including assessment. Advise students and participate in campus, university, college and community/field service. Engage in diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives.

Qualifications: Master's in Business Administration degree or a master's in business, technology, management information systems, or related field from an accredited institution is required. Industry experience in business, technology and/or analytics is preferred. Ability to support diverse student body and campus community, including appreciation and respect of differences in race and ethnicity, gender and sexual orientation, religious affiliation, age and life experience, nationality, and language, and in physical capabilities. We actively look for faculty with a commitment to supporting diversity in their various roles. A commitment to high-quality instruction in a student-centered environment and an interest in active and collaborative learning, the instructional use of technology, and hybrid and online teaching are expected. Prior college-level and online teaching experience required.

Enthusiasm for working in a multidisciplinary environment is important.

Penn State Beaver is one of more than 20 Penn State campuses state-wide. It is a student-centered campus of approximately 550 students. The coursework for the first two years of more than 160 Penn State baccalaureate majors is offered, as well as 9 baccalaureate degrees. Students and faculty at Penn State Beaver have all of the resources of a major research university at their disposal, but in a small college atmosphere. Class sizes are small and the student/faculty ratio is low, so students can receive much individual attention. Our faculty members are committed to providing a high-quality educational experience to their students and are actively engaged in research.
