The Department of Engineering Management, Systems, and Technology at the University of Dayton invites you to apply for one of two tenure track faculty positions at the rank of Assistant Professor specializing in Electronic and Computer Engineering Technology to begin on August 16, 2021.
The successful applicants will be expected to support the mission of the department through outstanding undergraduate teaching, advising and the development of a scholarly research program.
The Department of Engineering Management, Systems, and Technology offers a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Engineering Technology with a major in Electronic and Computer Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Engineering Technology, and master’s degrees in Engineering Management and Management Science.
Minimum Qualifications
- PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Computer Engineering Technology, or an equivalent related discipline or a PhD in Engineering Education with at least one degree in a discipline equivalent to Electrical or Computer Engineering
- At least 2 years of relevant technical experience
- Effective written communication skills
- Can articulate the ability to teach and perform scholarship activities within an Electronic and Computer Engineering Technology Program
Preferred Qualifications
While not everyone may possess all of the preferred
qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the
following:
● More than 2 years of relevant industrial experience
● Expertise and a record of professional growth within the
technical areas of Analog Circuit Design, Electronic Devices,
Instrumentation or Industrial Controls especially within the
domains of product design, advanced manufacturing, or Industry 4.0
applications.
● Expertise and a record of professional growth within the
technical areas of microprocessor software and hardware design and
applications
● Demonstrated successful experiences in :
o teaching technical subjects
o employing active learning approaches
o performing curriculum, course, and lab development
activities
o professional advising and mentoring
o effectively engaging with individuals from diverse
backgrounds
o establishing a sustained research program related to
electrical or computer engineering or engineering education which
may include successful grant writing activities, obtaining external
funding, and peer-reviewed publications and presentations
o collaborating with industry
o collaborating within a team environment
o fostering domestic and international
partnerships
● Demonstrated ability to perform curriculum, course, and lab
development activities
● A record of successful participation in the industrial community
and professional societies
● Demonstrated effective oral skills
● Demonstrated effective interpersonal communication skills
● An appreciation of the University’s Marianist values of
theory-to-practice, practical wisdom, inclusivity, community and
educating the whole person

Applicants are required to submit a cover letter, their curriculum vitae, contact information for three references, all unofficial transcripts, and statements of 1) how you would approach active learning in Electronic and Computer Engineering Technology courses using current pedagogical approaches, 2) research program plans 3) how you would promote inclusive excellence through your research, teaching and service (limit of two pages each).
